Rug Making in Turkey

A beautiful rug
We viewed the making of wool and silk rugs in the Cappadocia region.  Tradionally women make rugs and the men make pottery.  We watched as they knot the wool and create beautiful patterns all by hand.  It was also interesting to see silk being taken from silk catterpillar coccoons to create beautiful white silk ready for dyeing for a rug.

    It was Amy. The ladies who make these carpets are so skilful. Was a very interesting day, even if rather wet!
