Goreme Open Air Museum, Cappadocia

A fort in the Cappadocia region
It was absolutely freezing yesterday with cold rain just to make us more miserable.  We have now arrived in the Cappadocia region which is famous for it rock formations which are filled with houses, chapels and various other buildings.  The Christians escaping the Romans in the first century built themselves underground cities to hide from persecution.  The chapel of St Basil still has frescoes painted in the 3rd century AD on its ceiling.
